Our diploma in dance teaching and learning is a part-time course for dance practitioners wishing to gain a nationally recognised dance teaching qualification for working with children and young people.  The diploma is a route to Qualified Teacher Learning Skills (QTLS) status.

The diploma is suitable for all dancers, practitioners and teachers working with children and young people, whatever their level of teaching experience, training background or style of dance. The course is delivered face-to-face or via distance learning. The face-to-face course is delivered over 7 weekends (14 days) and the distance learning course is delivered over a series of two or three-hour evening sessions. The diploma is scheduled to run alongside our foundation course in professional contemporary dance and students may choose to undertake both qualifications.

The Diploma is a vocational qualification which consists of four individual units of study: Teaching and Learning in Dance;   Professional Knowledge of Dance Teaching; Critical Reflection on Dance Teaching; and Dance Teaching in Practice. For each unit, candidates must successfully demonstrate their knowledge of the learning outcomes in relation to their own practice and style of dance (or a style of dance they are interested in).

The Diploma is a recognised teaching qualification by the Institute for Learning. On completion of the course, candidates may apply for QTLS, at an additional charge.
